"Beauties of the Swamp and One Ugly Beast!"

Katie Bannister of Clayton, Washington and Yuma, Arizona

Katie says, "I had the privilege of visiting a swamp in Guyana, South America, with some local natives. The jungley swamp abounded with parrots (yes, they can hang upside down) and occasional crocodiles. This one is about to make lunch of the blue frog,

"so the orange frog is trying desparately to distract him.
The scholarly frog in the corner must think he has a special lily to camoflauge him, as he appears very unconcerned."
The parrots chatter in the trees,
Fish and aquatic vegetation abound.
Manatees, "sea cows", come partly out of the water to eat the grassy vegetation along the swamp banks.
