Although I use the term 'artist' lightly in the case of this quilt. After procrastinating from November when I received the fabric packet until about 5 days ago, I realized that I needed to turn my planning into a quilt. I had made a sketch of Elvis years ago from a phono in an old magazine and really wanted to incorporate it into the quilt, so I did my very first thread painting. My mother used to go about her housework singing Love Me Tender and other sons of the day, but that one always reminds me of her. My husband and Elvis share the same birthday, so Love Me Tender was a no brainer for me. The colors got wilder and as I searched through my stash the neon green and hot pink sort of took control. I managed to use all but a few scraps of the 'ugly' fabric from the packet. I really didn't want it hanging around in my stash. Actually, I was getting used to it by the time I finished the quilt! |
