Artists Statement

A quilt in a recent issue of Australian Patchwork and Quilting, Indulgence, by Diana Vincent was the inspiration for my challenge quilt. This quilt is patterned after the center of her larger quilt. I determined sizes, colors, etc for the different sections as the quilt progressed. I enjoy traditional patterns, but like to use them non-traditionally. Symmetry 'goes against my nature'; the appliqued flowers were added around the outer areas of the quilt to interrupt some of the many straight lines.
