Artists Statement

I made this doll from McCall's pattern 3700. When I saw the fabrics I knew exactly how I wanted my doll to look. Sometimes I had to go to Plan B, though. This is the first challenge of any kind that I've entered. This is beautiful fabric, easy to work with, and I had fun making my doll.
More notes on construction: There's wire armature all the way through so she's poseable and will stand on her own. Body fabric is a remnant from a home dec outlet. I hand beaded all the beadwork with leftover Christmas beads! Bead trim on the vest is purchased. I make all my dolls with the idea that they will go to a loving home and be played with. This doll is a combination of a 'play' doll and an art doll, but she won't turn down a chance to be played with and loved - it's more fun than sitting on a shelf!
